چکیده
A novel approach for solving the stiffened shell structures by using an edge-based smoothed MITC3 finite element method (ES-MITC3) is presented in this paper. The ES-MITC3 efficient combining (ES-FEM) with original triangular to not only significantly improve accuracy but also overcome shear-locking phenomenon Reissner–Mindlin analysis. In study, applied and then reinforced stiffeners based on Timoshenko beam theory achieve more durability strength structures. transverse displacements of at contact positions are assumed compatible. Numerical results compared those available other numerical demonstrate a good convergence present method.

The MITC3 shell finite element enriched by interpolation covers
In this paper, we develop a scheme to enrich the 3-node triangular MITC shell finite element by interpolation cover functions. The MITC method is used for the standard and enriched displacement interpolations. The enriched 3-node shell finite element not only captures higher gradients but also decreases inter-elemental stress jumps. In particular, the enrichment scheme increases the solution ac...
متن کاملEvaluation of Fracture Parameters by Coupling the Edge-Based Smoothed Finite Element Method and the Scaled Boundary Finite Element Method
This paper presents a technique to evaluate the fracture parameters by combining the edge based smoothed finite element method (ESFEM) and the scaled boundary finite element method (SBFEM). A semi-analytical solution is sought in the region close to the vicinity of the crack tip using the SBFEM, whilst, the ESFEM is used for the rest of the domain. As both methods satisfy the partition of unity...

متن کاملElastic Buckling Analysis of Ring and Stringer-stiffened Cylindrical Shells under General Pressure and Axial Compression via the Ritz Method
Elastic stability of ring and stringer-stiffened cylindrical shells under axial, internal and external pressures is studied using Ritz method. The stiffeners are rings, stringers and their different arrangements at the inner and outer surfaces of the shell. Critical buckling loads are obtained using Ritz method. It has been found that the cylindrical shells with outside rings are more stable th...
متن کاملNeural Prediction of Buckling Capacity of Stiffened Cylindrical Shells
Estimation of the nonlinear buckling capacity of thin walled shells is one of the most important aspects of structural mechanics. In this study the axial buckling load of 132 stiffened shells were numerically calculated. The applicability of artificial neural networks (ANN) in predicting the buckling capacity of vertically stiffened shells was studied. To this end feed forward (FF) multi-layer ...
